What we do at the Burns Club

Registered Charity No: 1050866 ABM University Health Board
The Welsh Dragon Burns Club is a registered charity run by a committed group of volunteers. One of the most difficult things about being a burn survivor or having a permanent scar is feeling that you look different to everyone else, and that others don’t understand what has and is being experienced.
Our aim is to provide ongoing support to those children and their families by building confidence and self-esteem, and helping to develop networks of friends who share similar experiences.
This is achieved through attendance at adventure camps, holidays, day trips and parties at no cost to the child or family. These experiences provide the child with the skills necessary to enable them to cope with the challenges living with life-long scarring can bring.
Fundraising is essential to ensure that the Welsh Dragon Burns Club is able to continue to support burn injured children and their families long-term.
The club is a completely voluntary organisation and receives no central funding, and with running costs totalling over £15,000 per annum we are constantly looking for new sources of funding. The volunteers arrange a number of fund raising events throughout the year such as auctions, raffles, themed social evenings and other sponsored activities, but we also rely heavily on kind donations from the public and other organisations.

The club is open to any child between the ages of 7 and 17 years old, who has a scar resulting from a burn or any other traumatic injury or surgery. If you feel that you, or a child you know, would benefit from the support our charity has to offer, please contact Us.
